As far as sauces go, black beans and garlic make a great combination. Very few ingredients, but buckets of flavor.
You must really love garlic. A. Lot.
But it's not hot or sharp. The beans add a sweetness. And the garlic is assertive, yet smooth.
1 can black beans, rinsed
1 small head of garlic
2 cups water
2 tsps italian seasoning
1 tbl salt
1 tsp black pepper
To start we'll make a simple garlic broth. It's quick and easy.
Peel and destem the cloves.
Add them to a small sauce pot. along with the spices and water.
Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes or reduced by about 1/3.
Remove to a heat safe container. Allow to rest in the fridge overnight. This will allow the flavors to really bloom and develop.
Add garlic broth mixture to a blender. Add the beans.
Puree until smooth.
