Vegans May Need Lysine Supplements

I started taking a lysine supplement to prevent cold sores and accidentally discovered that it's something really important for a vegan diet. 

While plants are a source of lysine and some even have a lot, on a strict vegan diet you may end up not getting enough, like I did. Especially if you're very physically active. 

There were no overt symptoms. Just general tiredness and fatigue. A lysine supplement really made a difference in my overall alertness and physical ability. I stopped sleeping so long and stopped waking up tired. 

If you're sure your vegan diet is healthy and well rounded and don't understand what's missing, lysine may be the answer. It's an essential amino acid found in many animal products. So taking a supplement isn't generally dangerous. You can take in a lot without any negative impact. So it's definitely worth a shot if you're experiencing unexplained fatigue.

Best Pasta

For the best tasting pasta you need to cook it in the sauce. You know how much better pasta tastes after having sat in its sauce in the fridge a while? This method will achieve that without the wait.

Ingredients

1/2 box pasta
1/2 jar your favorite pasta sauce
3-5 cloves garlic finely minced
3 cloves garlic peeled, uncut
1/2 a medium onion diced
1-2 any color bell peppers diced
salt pepper rosemary and oregano


Cook pasta according to package. Use a non-stick pot and add a few shakes of salt to boiling water before you add the pasta. Add uncut garlic cloves to pasta water.

When pasta is done drain and rinse.

Return hot pasta pot to hot burner and add peppers. Cook peppers for a few minutes then add onions. Cook onions for a few minutes then add minced garlic.

Cook garlic for two minutes then add your jarred pasta sauce. Stir to combine everything and cook a few minutes more.

Add your pasta and stir to coat. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring often and then add spices. Cook a minute more before serving.

Instead of waiting, it tastes good right away.

Sprinkle with grated Parmesan if desired. Lots of veggies make it a healthy meal. Add any veggies you love. Cook veggies in order of thickness.

Add different kinds of frozen veggies. Thaw in microwave before adding to pan.
